Oddest RPO concert (or rehearsal) memory... My very first Pops concert with RPO was Garrison Keiler's show which begins with the "Young Lutherans' Guide to the Orchestra.” A lone trumpet Fanfare opens the piece. At the time I was trying some new equipment on my trumpet and had two lead pipes side by side and I had the mouthpiece in the wrong one. So, when the director gave me the cue to start the piece the only thing that came out was the sound of a mouthpiece buzzing through a few inches of tube. Great way to start a new job!!!
What types of music do you like to listen to? Pop, Jazz, Folk, Classical, Middle Eastern
Do you have a pet/what kind/how many? No, the wife says no. So, I adopted one on FaceBook
The RPO is essential to Rochester because ... we add a dimension of musical life to our community that is very inspiring for many people.
My favorite part of working in the RPO is ... sense of connection to my colleagues and the musical conversation that we have on stage with each other and with the genius composers whose work embodies that which is most powerful, beautiful, graceful and enlightening in the human spirit.
