Amplify the RPO Experience with

Rochester, NY– The Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra steps out of its single spotlight to share the stage with an amplified rock band as it pays tribute to one of the most popular and enduring rock groups of the 1970s in Symphonic Rock: The Music of The Eagles. On Saturday, July 22 at 7:30 p.m., well-known arranger and conductor Brent Havens leads the RPO with a rock band featuring lead vocalist and MC Randy Jackson – of the group Zebra – in the third of four concerts in the RPO’s summer series at the Constellation Brands – Marvin Sands Performing Arts Center (CMAC) on Lincoln Hill Road in Canandaigua. Assisting members of the band include vocalist John Hines, guitarists George Cintron and Tom Jones, bassist Dan Clemens, and Powell Randolph on drums. This concert is sponsored by Hyland Enterprises, with additional support from Benefit Resource, Inc. The RPO’s summer series at CMAC is sponsored by Constellation Brands, with Canandaigua National Bank as the CMAC Summer Residency sponsor.

In the 1970s, The Eagles brought a successful mix of sounds to a generation that rewarded the group with five number one singles and four number one albums. At the end of the 20th century, two of those albums (Eagles: Their Greatest Hits 1971-1975 and Hotel California), ranked among the 10 best-selling albums ever, according to Record Industry Association of America. Many of these best-remembered songs including Hotel California, Take it to the Limit, Desparado, Lyin’ Eyes, and Take it to the Limit, will be performed with a unique blend of symphonic and rock sounds.

Berklee College of Music-trained arranger and conductor Brent Havens has written for orchestras, feature films – including the score for Quo Vadis – and virtually every kind of television programming. He regularly works with Randy Jackson, lead singer of the rock band Zebra, and recording producer and engineer.
