Regarded as “one of the most moving works of Strauss,” Richard Strauss’ Death and Transfiguration is a tone poem portraying the cycles of life, death, and the longed-for transfiguration of the afterlife. Violinist Stefan Jackiw performs in Beethoven’s Violin Concerto—one of the most popular and best known in classical repertoire. Selections from Wagner’s opera, Tannhäuser, is also featured on the program.
