ROCHESTER – Fashion Week of Rochester culminates with a special concert by the Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra, under the direction of the RPO’s new Music Director Arild Remmereit. Remmereit’s expansive and innovative programming is featured along with clothing, accessories, lingerie, and swimwear from Rochester-area designers and boutiques in Runway at the Runway, on Sunday, October 16 at 2 p.m. at the USAirports Hangar, located at One Airport Way, Rochester. Eye Candy, Omero’s Suits, B. Younique, Panache, Red Barn, 2 Chic Boutique, Solia, Mabel Mae, SJ’s Designs and Embrasse-Moi will provide the latest in fall fashions for this event. All proceeds from this event will benefit The Center for Youth.
Remmereit, who just moved to Rochester with his family in August 2011, will be dressed in fashions from Red Barn as he conducts the RPO and models walk the runway. FuturPoint Dance will be on hand to close the program.
Stylist and Fashion Week co-founder Meghan Mundy says, “This event is about bridging the gap between audiences of all ages. Putting fashion and the RPO together allows us to reach our entire community, show off our talents, and celebrate our fabulous city. When I first met Arild I was impressed with his enthusiasm, vibrancy, and his zest for creating programming that speaks to everyone. His presence in our city is exciting and his work with the RPO and Fashion Week is a fantastic way to end a week of fashion and fun.”
RPO Music Director Arild Remmereit remarked, “It has always been my mission to bring classical music to unexpected places and to perform pieces that audiences may have never heard before. Joining together fashion and classical music is an inventive way of reaching new audiences—something I hope to do often in my work with the RPO. I would also like to thank Anthony Costello for allowing us to use the USAirports hangar for Runway at the Runway. His support, along with that of Key Private Bank and Vitamin Water is greatly appreciated.”
Runway at the Runway is supported by Key Private Bank, Vitamin Water, and USAirports. Media sponsorship is provided by Clear Channel. Tickets for all Fashion Week events are sold at Scott Miller, Suzanne’s, Panache, Center for Youth, and 2 Chic Boutique. For more information, go online to www.fashionweekofrochester.org.
