Katie Sejba from Dallas Symphony Orchestra starts Oct. 7
Rochester, NY – The Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra (RPO) is pleased to announce the appointment of Katie Sejba to the position of Vice President of Marketing and Communications at the RPO. She will begin her new duties on Monday, October 7, less than two weeks after the 2013-14 season opens.*
“We are excited to welcome Katie as the newest member of our senior leadership team,” says RPO President and CEO Charles Owens. “Our search included many strong candidates from across the country, but we concluded that Katie’s experience and impressive sales growth results, her dynamism, and her reputation for team-building made her the perfect choice for the RPO.”
In her new position, Sejba (pronounced “SAY buh”) will be responsible for developing strategy for and managing the Orchestra’s annual subscription and single-ticket campaigns, and overseeing the organization’s broader strategies in media relations, patron relations, publications, electronic and social media, and branding.
"I am honored and thrilled to be a part of the RPO team,” says Katie. “With an exciting concert season upon us, I can’t wait to get started on our task of sharing this incredible orchestra with a growing number of people, and to help enrich this great community with extraordinary music."
Sejba will be relocating immediately to Rochester from Dallas, Texas, where she currently serves as Senior Marketing Manager/Subscriptions for the Dallas Symphony Orchestra. Since joining the DSO marketing staff in 2009, she has held a series of increasingly responsible positions, including Manager of Advertising and Promotions, and Senior Manager of Marketing Analysis and Sales. Prior to her time in Dallas, she worked with the Akron Symphony Orchestra in Ohio as Coordinator of Educational and Outreach Programs and as Interim Director of Operations. A Cleveland native, Katie earned her Bachelor of Music degree from Loyola University New Orleans, majoring in Music Industry Studies and clarinet performance. She later earned dual master’s degrees from Southern Methodist University in Dallas: an MBA with a Marketing concentration from the Cox School of Business, and a Master of Arts in Arts Administration from the Meadows School of Music.
The Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra has been committed to enriching and inspiring our community through the art of music since its founding in 1922. The RPO presents up to 150 concerts a year, serving nearly 200,000 people through ticketed events, education and community engagement activities, and concerts in schools and community centers throughout the region. Notable former music directors include Eugene Goossens, José Iturbi, Erich Leinsdorf, David Zinman, and Conductor Laureate Christopher Seaman; Principal Pops Conductor Jeff Tyzik has earned a national reputation for excellence in pops programming during his 19-year tenure with the RPO. With Michael Butterman as Principal Conductor for Education and Outreach (The Louise and Henry Epstein Family Chair) – the first position of its kind in the country – the RPO reaches 14,000 children through its specific programs for school-aged children.
*The RPO’s 91st season, presented by Dawn & Jacques Lipson, officially begins with Opening Weekend: Mahler’s First Symphony on Thursday, September 26 and Saturday the 28th at 8 p.m. in Kodak Hall at Eastman Theatre, with a pre-concert talk (included with ticket price) beginning at 7 p.m. in Kodak Hall.
