ROCHESTER PHILHARMONIC ORCHESTRA PERFORMS FIRST LIVESTREAM CONCERT TO MORE THAN 5,000 STUDENTS
Continues its Educational Mission during 30-Day Concert Postponement

Rochester, NY – The Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra (RPO) performed a live-stream version of the Intermediate Concerts – Get Out the Vote! – on Friday, March 13, 2020, at Kodak Hall at Eastman Theatre. Guest conductor and RPO trumpeter, Herb Smith, conducted this morning’s concert. More than 250 classrooms viewed the live-stream in over 50 participating schools.

The Intermediate Concerts had originally been scheduled for March 10-13 but were canceled after the University of Rochester issued plans to restrict campus events, including those at the Eastman Theatre, in an attempt to limit the impact of the coronavirus. The RPO sincerely thanks the University of Rochester and videographers, Global Events, in helping to bring the first-ever live-stream concert to audiences.

At this point, the RPO has canceled or is rescheduling all concerts through mid-April, and developing contingency plans for remaining 2019-2020 season concerts scheduled from mid-April through the end of May. The health of the general public, our audiences, musicians, staff, and volunteers remains our highest priority.

The Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra will continue to work with the University and community partners, and provide updates to patrons and the community as decisions are made.
