Area singers: apply now to sing with RPO in Kodak Hall

Rochester, NY – The Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra (RPO) will host a “Winter Sing” community chorus side-by-side reading session of Brahms’ beloved Requiem with full orchestra on Saturday, January 27, 2018 from 1 – 3:30 p.m. in Kodak Hall at Eastman Theatre.

Led by Eastman School of Music Professor William Weinert, director of the Eastman-Rochester Chorus, the RPO will accompany the community chorus. The event will not be open to the public. Due to anticipated response, interested vocalists are encouraged to apply as soon as possible by accessing the application at the RPO website (, under the Concerts & Events/Education & Community Concerts tabs) prior to the November 15, 2017 deadline. Those accepted will be notified by December first.

Accepted chorus members will be provided a vocal score if needed at the session. An online link to a vocal score will be provided in advance of the reading session, and a $20 participation fee will go towards offsetting expenses.

The Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra (RPO) has offered several side-by-side reading sessions for community vocalists and musicians in the past few years, and has been committed to enriching and inspiring our community through the art of music since its founding in 1922. Principal Pops Conductor Jeff Tyzik has earned a national reputation for excellence in pops programming during his 23-year tenure with the RPO.
