Rochester, NY – The Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra (RPO) partners with Rochester Young Professionals (RYP) for a special happy hour event, Beethoven and Brews, on Thursday, February 5 at 5:30 p.m. at Victoire Belgian Beer Bar & Bistro (120 East Avenue).

“We’re excited to be partnering with the RPO on the first of many events” says RYP President Brad Flower. “One of Rochester Young Professionals’ chief goals is to promote community development in our city. Engaging young professionals in the thriving arts and culture in Rochester is at the heart of this mission.”

The free event will include complimentary appetizers, a cash bar, a meet-and-greet with RPO musicians and President & CEO Charles Owens, plus the opportunity to purchase discounted tickets (starting at $18) to Beethoven’s Fifth that evening at 7:30 p.m. in Kodak Hall at Eastman Theatre. In association with the RYP Perks app, members can save 20% on concert tickets to this and all 2014-15 Thursday evening Philharmonic performances. The discount code can be accessed by downloading from the App Store or Google Play and used when purchasing online or via box office representatives at (585) 454-2100. There will also be a business card raffle for a chance to win tickets to a future RPO concert. Visit rpo.org/Beethoven_and_Brews or the Facebook event online for more information and to RSVP.

Beethoven’s groundbreaking Fifth Symphony has astounded generations of audiences, transforming from its simple opening with the most recognizable four notes ever written into a colossal epic of triumph and despair. The all-Beethoven concert, led by guest conductor Marcelo Lehninger, spotlights acclaimed British pianist Stephen Hough, hailed by the New York Times as “extraordinary,” in Beethoven’s Third Piano Concerto. Beethoven’s Coriolan Overture completes the program.

“Beethoven and Brews is just one example of how the RPO is working hard to reach diverse audiences,” says Owens. “As a young professional himself, our new Music Director Ward Stare is especially interested in engaging this vibrant segment of our community.”
