RPO Summer Kicks Off on the Shore and on the Field with Free County-Sponsored Concerts

Rochester NY – Conductor Jeff Tyzik and the Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra kick off a summer of music with two free outdoor concerts showcasing music from the swing, jazz and ragtime eras on Wednesday, June 24 at 7:30 pm at the Gazebo at Ontario Beach Park (4799 Lake Avenue), and on Friday, June 26, at approximately 8:30 p.m. (following the Red Wings game) at Frontier Field.

Both concerts offer nostalgic favorites, including Jelly Roll Morton’s King Porter Stomp, Scott Joplin’s Sun Flower Slow Drag and Count Basie’s One O’Clock Jump as well as a number of original Tyzik compositions. Principal Trombonist Mark Kellogg (The Austin E. Hildebrandt Chair) will be featured in a solo spot for a special tribute to bandleader and trombonist Tommy Dorsey.  At Frontier Field, Tyzik comes “up to bat” immediately following the Red Wings game, culminating in a sensational center field fireworks display.

Tickets are required for the Red Wings game.  For more information and game tickets, visit www.redwingsbaseball.com or call (585) 423-9464.
