RPO’s Symphony 101 Concerts End This Year’s Series with a Love Note

Rochester, NY – The sixth and final pair of the Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra’s Symphony 101 Series concerts for the 2006-07 Season ends with a love note.  On Friday, May 11 at 7:30 p.m. at the Performance Hall at Hochstein, and Sunday, May 13 at 2:00 p.m. in the Hale Auditorium, Roberts Cultural Life Center at Roberts Wesleyan College, Music Director Christopher Seaman leads a lively demonstration of how composers evoke the emotion of love through their music.

Maestro Seaman and the RPO will explore numerous musical expressions of love by some of the world’s greatest composers.  From tragic love (Tchaikovsky’s Francesca da Rimini) to a loving tribute to a new home (Tobias Picker’s Old and Lost Rivers) to inspirational love (Beethoven’s Egmont Overture), melodramatic love (Mascagni’s Cavalleria rusticana) and more, these concerts provide a fitting conclusion to the series.

Music Director Seaman leads these engaging and innovative Symphony 101 concerts that feature discussion, musical examples, selections from significant works and complete pieces.  Following each concert, Mr. Seaman takes questions from the audience.

General admission tickets for these performances are $22, available online 24/7 at www.rpo.org, by phone (454-2100) and in person from the RPO Box Office, and at any Wegmans.  RPO Box Office Hours are Monday-Saturday, 10 a.m.-5 p.m. (non-concert Saturdays, 10 a.m.-3 p.m.).  Wegmans is open seven days a week.  A convenience fee may apply.
