Single Tickets Go On Sale for RPO’s 85th Anniversary Season at 10 a.m., Monday, August 27

Rochester, NY – Single tickets for the 2007-08 Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra’s celebratory 85th anniversary season go on sale to the general public on Monday, August 27 at 10 a.m.  In addition to this milestone, 2007-08 also commemorates the 10th anniversary of Christopher Seaman’s tenure as Music Director.

The RPO opens the new season in style with a festive Red Carpet Spectacular opening night on Saturday, October 6 at 7:30 p.m. featuring Seaman conducting Benjamin Britten’s Young Person’s Guide to the Orchestra, Vaughan Williams’ Serenade to Music and Stravinsky’s sonically spectacular Rite of Spring.  Prior to the concert, all ticketholders will be able to view the RPO’s own “stars” walk the red carpet, have their photos taken and share in the excitement of the evening with a post-concert Stars and Streetlights Soirée on Gibbs Street.  Single tickets for the Red Carpet Spectacular range from $85-35.  Special $200 Eastman 400 Circle tickets are available which include a gourmet dinner, exclusive mezzanine seating, champagne, valet parking, a keepsake gift and a donation to the RPO.

From Carl Orff’s dramatic Carmina Burana and Silent Movie Night at the RPO with the inimitable Harold Lloyd as “The Man on the Clock,” to guitar virtuoso Sharon Isbin, Beatlemania, a Rochester premiere and the 85th anniversary concert, there is an eclectic mix for every musical taste.  Individual tickets will be available for the Red Carpet Spectacular as well as all Philharmonics, Pops, orKIDStra and Symphony 101 concerts, the popular holiday Nutcracker with the Rochester City Ballet and Handel’s Messiah with the Rochester Oratorio Society.  The May 5 concert with cellist Yo-Yo Ma is sold-out.  Based on the success of last season’s value-added events which included a wine- and chocolate-tasting and a collaboration with the art gallery, Rochester Contemporary, the RPO has more in store to create the complete RPO experience.

Prices for other series and special concerts range as follows:

  • Most Philharmonics concerts: $20-55 (Phils 11 and 14: $22-57)
  • Most WPOP concerts: $20-57 (Gala Holiday Pops and Pops 8: $24-60)
  • Symphony 101 concerts: $22, general admission
  • Casual Sunday Matinee concerts: $15, general admission
  • OrKIDStra concerts: $15 adults, $10 children, general admission
  • The Nutcracker concerts: $20-60
  • Handel’s Messiah: $22-57

Senior citizens (62+), students (with valid ID) and children are entitled to an advance 20% discount for regularly scheduled RPO Philharmonics and WPOP Series concerts at the Eastman Theatre.  Half-price “rush” tickets are available to senior citizens, students and children on the day of these concerts at the RPO Box Office, at Wegmans and at the concert site beginning 60 minutes prior to the performances.  Through the generous sponsorship of PAETEC Communications, Inc., the RPO continues to offer college students $5 tickets to classical Philharmonics concerts for purchase during the week of the concert.
