Tickets On Sale to General Public for All Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra Performances Next Monday, August 29

ROCHESTER – Tickets for all upcoming Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra (RPO) performances go on sale Monday, August 29 at 6:00 am online at www.rpo.org and in person at 10:00 am in the Eastman Theatre Box Office.  The RPO is also introducing a new ticket program for those under 40 (“$20 under 40 and $10 under 20”) as it continues to work toward making Philharmonics concerts affordable.  Additionally, there will be specially priced children’s tickets—which start at $10 for The Nutcracker and matinee Gala Holiday Pops performances.

Some of this season’s highlights include:

  • The RPO rolls out the Red Carpet for Arild Remmereit, as he begins his inaugural season leading the RPO on Friday, September 30.  At the concert, you’ll hear the RPO premiere Amy Beach’s “Gaelic Symphony,” along with works by Halvorsen, Svendsen, and Johan Strauss, Jr.  Tickets for this concert (which will be performed on September 30 and October 1) will be on sale, as well as event tickets for the Red Carpet Spectacular—which will include a pre-concert dinner and a special post-concert rooftop party on the East End Garage on the 30th.
  • Remmereit will continue the season with Mahler’s “Resurrection” on October 20 and 22, and will be joined by the Eastman Chorale and the Eastman-Rochester Chorus.  Also at these performances, Remmereit will conduct Fanny Mendelssohn Hensel’s Job—and is one of seven concerts during the Philharmonics season that will feature women composers.
  • World-renowned violinist Itzhak Perlman will join the RPO to perform Tchaikovsky’s Violin Concerto on January 22, 2012.  The RPO’s new Music Director, Arild Remmereit will conduct.  Pit seats will also be available for this concert.
  • On March 8 and 10, RPO Conductor Laureate Christopher Seaman returns to lead the Orchestra in a program that features Shostakovich, Beethoven, and Elgar.
  • The return of Cirque de la Symphonie launches the start of the RPO’s Pops season on October 14 and 15, under the direction of Principal Pops Conductor, Jeff Tyzik.  Pit seats—which bring patrons up-close to the action—will be on sale for this performance.
  • Other exciting Pops concerts this year include: the return of Maureen McGovern to Rochester, who will perform with the RPO on November 4 and 5; Carousel in Concert, which will feature Broadway artists on stage, alongside the RPO on January 6 and 7; and James Westwater’s Spurs and Spirits, which offers a feast for the eyes and the ears in this concert that showcases stunning photography choreographed to iconic American music on April 27 and 28.
  • As always, the RPO will have tickets on sale for a number of family-friendly holiday concerts including The Nutcracker—featuring the Rochester City Ballet—and Gala Holiday Pops.  Kids’ tickets start at $10 for all Nutcracker concerts, as well as the Holiday Pops matinee concerts.
  • Tickets will also be sold for the RPO’s orKIDStra family series and its Symphony 101 concerts.
