DESCRIPTION
The fascinating rhythms of George Gershwin will fill Kodak Hall as Jon Nakamatsu joins Principal Pops Conductor Jeff Tyzik to celebrate the centennial of “Rhapsody in Blue,” which they recorded together with the RPO to great acclaim in 2006. They also perform Rachmaninoff’s ravishing Second Piano Concerto. And, Jeff Tyzik conducts two electrifying showpieces: the Danzón No. 2 of Márquez, and Respighi’s thundering “Pines of Rome.”

RPO HISTORY:
Jon Nakamatsu is a frequent guest artist of the RPO performing in 11 Philharmonics Series and Sunday Matinee concerts from 1999 through 2019.
- Nakamatsu last played Rachmaninoff’s Piano Concerto No. 2 with Ward Stare conducting on September 15-17, 2016.
- His first appearance with the RPO was January 7-9, 1999 with Rachmaninoff’s Piano Concerto No. 3.
