Please be assured that your RPO follows the most up-to-date guidelines from national and local officials as well as our medical advisors to ensure the safety and well-being of patrons, staff, musicians, volunteers, and guest artists. Additional information will continue to be provided throughout the season as safety requirements develop.
We do not have a set dress code, so dress how you feel comfortable! Many concert goers attend in business or business-casual clothing. You might prefer to be a little more dressed up or you might prefer to be a little more casual, it’s up to you.
We try our best to begin all concerts on time. Therefore, we recommend that you try to arrive no later than fifteen minutes prior to the scheduled start of the concert, and at least half an hour in advance if you still need to purchase tickets. To avoid distracting noises during the performances, there are designated pauses in each program when late arrivals can be seated. Unfortunately, some concerts have no late seating. To confirm a particular concert’s late seating policy, please call the Eastman Theatre Box Office at 585-454-2100. If you have to leave a concert before its conclusion, please do so between program works.
Program length varies, but a typical RPO Philharmonics or Pops performance lasts about two hours, including one intermission. Casual Sunday Matinees and OrKIDStra concerts are closer to an hour in length. You can always call the Box Office at 585-454-2100 for more information.
Many works in classical music have three or more movements or sections. A short pause usually falls in between each of them. It is customary not to clap during these short pauses. To find out the number of movements (and the corresponding number of pauses) in a given piece, turn to the program page in your program book. You will find that each work is subdivided by movement (usually indicated by tempo markings in Italian). After the last movement, clap to your heart’s content.
Cellular phones and other electronic devices should be silenced before entering the theatre. Other potentially distracting devices, such as a watch with an alarm, should also be silenced. Please contact the house manager before entering the theatre if emergency notification may be required.
No still cameras, video cameras, or tape recorders are permitted at any RPO performance. All equipment should be checked with the house manager prior to entering the theatre.
In an effort to help reduce distracting noises and enhance the concert-going experience, Wegmans provides complimentary Halls cough suppressant tablets (subject to availability) to patrons attending all concerts. Cough drop dispensers are located in the main and balcony lobbies of the Eastman Theatre. Please see an usher or the house manager at the Performance Hall at Hochstein if you desire a cough tablet.
Children are welcome at RPO concerts. In compliance with fire code regulations, tickets are required for all attending. Please see children's concert ticket pricing for more information.

What to expect
When you arrive at Kodak Hall at Eastman Theatre, you can purchase or pick up tickets at Will Call, located in the Wolk Atrium lobby. Patrons will have their tickets scanned by an usher and be directed to the appropriate level and lobby. Food and drink are available for purchase at Betty’s Cafe in the orchestra lobby and can be pre-ordered for pickup during intermission. Keep in mind only water bottles are allowed inside Eastman Theatre. Philharmonics and Pops concerts typically last 2 hours with a 15 minute intermission.
