Inspiring the Next Generation

Our founder, George Eastman, believed that all Rochester residents should experience musical learning throughout their lives. With that in mind, the RPO became one of the first orchestras in the country to place an emphasis on music education for all members of our community.

This dedication to lifelong musical engagement continues today. Each season, the RPO presents nearly 50 concerts and more than 200 related events that serve a diverse population totaling approximately 100,000 children and adults. Our programs are comprehensive in their content and most are offered free of charge.

Dedicated to the Arts

We believe that all residents should experience the power of music engagement and learn throughout their lives. The foundation for education and community engagement began with our founding nearly 100 years ago. We continue this belief through the hundreds of concerts we present and participate in each year, many of which are free to the community.

Here are just some ways we help inspire:

Teachers & Schools

We offer performances for local schools in pre-k, primary, and intermediate grade levels.

Rochester Philharmonic Youth Orchestra

The RPYO engages student musicians to achieve excellence in performance and cultivates a life-long love of music.

Rochester Philharmonic League

For over 50 years, the Rochester Philharmonic League has annually sponsored the Young Artist Auditions. These auditions grant talented high school musicians the chance to perform for professional judges and to win a variety of awards and scholarships.

Families
