The Eastman School of Music Cellists from the studio of David Ying will perform in the lobby in front of Betty’s Cafe 30 minutes before each show alongside David Ying. These student-musician cellists are Ethan Blake, Satoshi Kamei, Ivy Robison, Juewen Zhang, Taylor Yoon, Anika Grieve, Maggie Slap, Clara Schultz, and Audrey Cherwinski.

Join your Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra as we open our second century in Kodak Hall at Eastman Theatre! Music Director Andreas Delfs conducts one of Beethoven’s towering achievements—the triumphant third symphony, Eroica. The dazzling Alisa Weilerstein (born and raised right here in Rochester!) plays Elgar’s achingly poignant Cello Concerto. The concert begins with Wild Sky by Aaron Jay Kernis, a world premiere of a new work written to celebrate your RPO’s Centennial season.
Alisa Weilerstein performed with the RPO November 1997 with Alan Gilbert conducting Variations on a Rococo Theme for Cello and Orchestra.
