Please allow for extra time as the Scio Street entrances are the only ones open to traffic and staffed with parking attendants. *Surface lot parking notes: The parking lot at the corner of Main and Gibbs is a pay-to-park with a parking machine. Please allow for extra time to pay at the machine if you plan on parking there.

The legendary Yefim Bronfman joins Music Director Andreas Delfs and your Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra for Beethoven’s fourth piano concerto. And Dvořák’s and Brahms’ Slavonic and Hungarian Dances are some of the most enduring popular music ever conceived.

RPO HISTORY:

Yefim Bronfman has played three Philharmonics Series Concerts with your RPO.

  • David Zinman conducted Bartok’s Concerto No. 2 for Piano and Orchestra February 5-7, 1981 with Mr. Bronfman.
  • Jerzy Semkow conducted Bartok’s Concerto No. 2 for Piano and Orchestra 7 years later February 25-27, 1988 with Mr. Bronfman.
  • Ward Stare conducted Prokoviev’s Piano Concerto No. 2 with Mr. Bronfman September 11-15, 2018.

Your RPO performed Beethoven’s Piano Concerto No. 4 17 times in a Philharmonics Series concert from 1924 to 2011.

  • Albert Coates conducted the piece on January 16, 1924 with Frederic Lamond on piano.
  • Christopher Seaman conducted the piece May 9-11, 2002 with Helene Grimaud on piano.
  • Yoav Talmi conducted the piece March 1-5, 2011 with Markus Groh on piano.

Your RPO performed Brahms Hungarian Dance No. 5, 6, 14, 19, and 21 in a Philharmonics Series concert from 1939 to 2006 and Dvořák’s Slavonic Dances Opuses 46 and 72 (1-4) and (5-8) in a Philharmonics Series concert from 1959 to 2018.

  • Maestro Delfs conducted this dance mix of Hungarian and Slavonic Dances November 16-18, 1995 which including Hungarian Dance No. 5, 19, and 21 and Slavonic Dances Opus 46 Nos. 1-8 and Opus 72 No. 1-8.
