Violin superstar Sarah Chang is “a musician of virtuosity and artistic insight,” says the San Francisco Chronicle. See her perform Vivaldi’s timeless and visceral “The Four Seasons,” music that blooms in perennial splendor. Plus, a newly commissioned piece by American-Iranian composer Gity Razaz. Her new work is conducted by Music Director Andreas Delfs along with Mendelssohn’s sunny “Italian” Symphony.

This is the first time your RPO has performed a Gity Razaz composition in a Philharmonics Series concert.

Your RPO has performed The Four Seasons in a Philharmonics Series concert 5 times from 1988-2012.

  • Christopher Seaman conducted in March 1997 with Mark Peskanoy as soloists and again in January 2002 with Ilya Kaler as soloist
  • JoAnn Falletta conducted in December 2012 with concertmaster Juliana Athayde as soloist
  • Michael Christie conducted in December 2017 with concertmaster Juliana Athayde as soloist

Your RPO has performed Mendelssohn’s Symphony No. 4 “Italian” in a Philharmonics Series or Sunday Matinee concert 13 times from 1926-2013.
