Shannon Nance

Joined the RPO in 1993

Shannon Nance, Assistant Concertmaster of the Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra, has been a member of the RPO violin section since 1993. She holds two degrees from the Eastman School of Music, where she studied with Catherine Tait and Zvi Zeitlin. Nance has appeared as soloist with the RPO, the SUNY Geneseo Orchestra, the Lincoln Symphony Orchestra (Neb.), the Greece Symphony (N.Y.), the Greater Rochester Women’s Philharmonic, and the Festival Orchestra at the Masterworks Festival in Winona Lake, Ind. Nance has also served as Associate Concertmaster of the Arizona Musicfest in Scottsdale, Ariz.

She is the violinist of the Finger Lakes Chamber Ensemble, which performs regularly in Lodi and Ithaca, N.Y.  An active chamber musician in the Rochester area, she enjoys collaborating with colleagues from the RPO and faculty members of the Eastman School of Music.
In addition to a busy performing career, Nance is also a dedicated violin teacher, and has students of varying ages currently in her studio.  She is also director of the String Intensive Study Program at the Masterworks Festival in Winona Lake, Ind.
