Rochester NY– The Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra returns for its annual Summer Spectacular with Fireworks at SUNY Geneseo (1 College Circle) on Saratoga Field at 8:30 p.m. on Friday, July 13, 2007 (rain location is the College’s Wadsworth Auditorium). This concert – under the direction of Principal Conductor for Education and Outreach Michael Butterman (The Louise and Henry Epstein Family Chair) – will feature music by celebrated American composers, popular film scores and stirring patriotic music, followed by a fireworks display.

The RPO Summer Spectacular concert will kick off with George Gershwin’s “Overture” from Crazy for You followed by Scott Joplin’s Ragtime Dance and Duke Ellington’s Ellington Fantasy.  Original compositions and arrangements by the RPO’s Principal Pops conductor Jeff Tyzik will add an additional spark to the program which includes his A Call to Worship (from Pleasant Valley Suite), A Blast from the Past and Great Westerns Suite. The nostalgic sounds of Somewhere Over the Rainbow, Paper Moon and The Best of the Beatles will be followed by the patriotic music of The American Frontier, Armed Forces Salute and finally The Battle Hymn of the Republic
