ROCHESTER – The Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra (RPO) has something for everyone this holiday season!
On December 9 and 11, fitting for the grand opening weekend of the magnificent new Eastman School wing, the RPO, the Rochester Oratorio Society, and a quartet of acclaimed soloists bring back the splendid sounds of an iconic masterpiece, Handel’s Messiah.
The following weekend, Principal Pops Conductor Jeff Tyzik rings in the holiday season with Gala Holiday Pops. The program features the RPO, the Festival High School Chorale and Rochester native Donna Lynne Champlin. The concerts are December 17 – 19, with matinee performances on Saturday and Sunday. On Thursday, December 16 there is a special performance for Rochester Rotary Night. Ticket purchases for this performance support the Rochester Rotary Charitable Programs of the Rotary Sunshine Campus and Rochester City Roberto Clemente School #8.
The RPO is extending the holiday season this year with Bugs Bunny at the Symphony January 7 and 8. The program is filled with the return of all your Looney Tunes favorites on a giant screen as the RPO performs the music live! On January 8 at 2 p.m. is a special orKIDStra event – the Wascally Wabbit Bugs Bunny returns for a special matinee performance for families! Tickets to this performance start at $10.
