Tyzik and RPO Bring Tumultuous Season of Spring to Eastman Theatre

Casual Sunday Matinee Celebrates the Enchantment of April

Rochester, NY – Spring is the season of change and rebirth, characterized by both the return of green foliage and unpredictable weather.  On Sunday, April 26 at 2:00 pm at the Eastman Theatre under the baton of Principal Pops Conductor Jeff Tyzik, the Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra captures the season through music with Enchanted April in its next Casual Sunday Matinee concert. The repertoire features selections from varied genres depicting the unrestrained essence of spring; a 12:30 “Bagels with Jeff” at Miller Center Atrium is free to ticket holders.

Much like spring itself, the pieces performed by the RPO transition between the boisterous music of unruly weather and the gentle melodies of renewed life.  The repertoire includes Antonio Vivaldi’s classic “Spring” from The Four Seasons, Jeff Tyzik’s own “Alpine Garden” from his Bravo! Colorado, Johann Strauss’ Thunder and Lightning Polka, as well as selections from Richard Rodgers’ timeless Broadway musical, South Pacific, all paying tribute to the turbulent chaos that is spring in Rochester.

General admission tickets are $15; $12 for seniors, students, subscribers, and donors, available online 24/7 at www.rpo.org; by phone (454-2100); in person from the RPO Box Office, 10:00 am-5:00 pm, Monday-Saturday (non-concert Saturdays, 10:00 am-3:00 pm); and seven days a week at area Wegmans.  A convenience fee may apply.

The Casual Sunday Matinee Series is sponsored by Rochester Magazine and the University of Rochester Medical Center; Jeff Tyzik’s appearance is made possible by Friends of Jeff.  Bagels and coffee are generously provided by Bruggers Bakeries.  RPO performances are made possible in part with grants from the National Endowment for the Arts; the New York State Council on the Arts, a State Agency; the State of New York; Monroe County; and the City of Rochester.
